Please indulge me for a moment for a quick story about my son. It has nothing to do with movies, and I promise that this blog will not turn into one of those "Let me tell you how cute my kids are!" things. I don't ask you for much.
My oldest son (almost 3) is a big Bob Dylan fan. I know, cool, huh? His favorite song is Tangled Up in Blue. In the interest of expanding his horizons (and to keep from having to hear TUIB three times on the way to the grocery store), I made a CD with some other Dylan tunes. One of them is the classic, The Times, They Are A-Changin', which happened to come up on the way home from church yesterday. Oldest son listened intently for a few moments then asked, "Daddy, what are they changing into?"
Profound, right? Any assistance in answering this one would be greatly appreciated.
I think the only reasonable answer to that question is another question: "What do *you* think they're changing to, son?" Granted, if he's not yet three you might end up with an answer like "macaroni and cheese?" or "an escalator?", but who's to say Dylan wouldn't answer the same way?
ReplyDelete(Also, have you seen "The Diving Bell and the Butterfly" yet? I quite enjoyed the book.)
My pal are becoming pals with one another and pretty soon they'll be conspiring against me.
ReplyDeleteHere's a not very good movie: Married Life (Pierce Brosnan, Chris Cooper, Rachael McAdams, Patricia Clarkson). It was kinda boring and not as much fun as the previews suggested.
Jennifer,
ReplyDeleteI tried that. His response was, "No, Daddy, you say what it's changing into." I think he's on to me.
"The Diving Bell…" is on my Netflix queue. It's out on DVD next week. (I'm going to do a post soon on whether to read a book first before seeing the movie. This one will be an interesting case study.)
Goldie,
That seems to be the consensus on "Married Life." My question, though, is where did you manage to see a limited release independent film in Lawton? I figure "Transformers" is still taking up most of the screens down there.
I saw it at the Angelika in Dallas. Supposedly, an Angelika will be built here in Lawton, but it's only going to show movies starring Vin Diesel and The Rock.
ReplyDeleteVin Diesel AND The Rock? Aren't they the same person?
ReplyDeleteYou need to write a post about how much "Kingdom of the Crystal Skull" insulted my intelligence.
